At Wake Forest, the Early Action application round is intended for first-generation college students. This is only our second year of offering this new application round, and we are proud of the opportunity this “better front door” provides.

We released admissions decisions to Early Action applicants yesterday. We again congratulate those offered admission and look forward to engaging those students as we approach May 1 or “National College Decision Day.” For those students who have submitted all their financial aid documentation, we hope to have award notifications available for you in your status portal by mid-February. We encourage students to reach out to us with any questions as they continue to evaluate Wake Forest.

Our admissions committee carefully evaluates applicants for admission, and those students who were deferred into our Regular Decision pool may have been deferred for any number of reasons: they did not meet the criteria for this application round for first-gen students (which, for us, is defined as “the child of parents who have not graduated from a four-year accredited college or university, or the child of parents who earned a degree abroad but are underemployed in the United States”); we are interested in seeing grades from their senior year; or we want to learn more about the full context of our larger applicant population. In any case, we are enthused by the promise of reviewing these applications again in Regular Decision. We encourage deferred students to send us any grades from their senior year as well as any additional academic recognitions or awards. (Applicants are welcome to write to admissions@wfu.edu with those updates, or they may upload them directly to their application via the status portal.)

And lastly, we wish those of you who received disappointing news the very best in finding your collegiate home.

Warmest regards,

Wake Forest University Office of Undergraduate Admissions
