A Note for Rising Seniors
While we continue to work on finalizing our newest class of Demon Deacons, we wanted to take a moment to offer a few notes to rising high school seniors, as we know that many are eager to begin their college admissions process.
First, please be aware that our application for admission will not be available until August 1. As you wait, we encourage you to spend some time learning about Wake Forest by perusing our website: getting the facts, going on a virtual campus tour, or attending one of our virtual information sessions.
Secondly, we’d like to share the prompts of our written supplement to the application for those applying for admission to the Class of 2029. They are as follows:
- List five books you’ve read that have intrigued you.
- Tell us what piques your intellectual curiosity or has helped you understand the world’s complexity. This can include a work you’ve read, a project you’ve completed for a class, and even co-curricular activities in which you have been involved (limit 150 words).
- Dr. Maya Angelou, renowned author, poet, civil-rights activist, and former Wake Forest University Reynolds Professor of American Studies, inspired others to celebrate their identities and to honor each person’s dignity. Choose one of Dr. Angelou’s powerful quotes. How does this quote relate to your lived experience or reflect how you plan to contribute to the Wake Forest community? (limit 300 words)
- Give us your Top Ten List. (The choice of theme is yours.) (limit: 100 characters per line)
Our supplemental questions remain optional, but we hope that these prompts provide space for you to share with us what makes you, you. So, as you start writing, think of things you want to make sure we know about you. This is your chance!
As you consider applying to Wake Forest, please be sure to familiarize yourself with our various application deadlines: November 15 for those applying via Early Decision or Early Action (for first-generation students); January 1 for those applying Early Decision II or Regular Decision. (If you are interested in applying Early Decision, our virtual program on July 18 might be of interest!)
Lastly, we will be communicating with you via email about your application status and a number of other topics related to Wake Forest. While we understand why you would choose your school-provided email address as your preferred email, we wanted to make you aware that a number of our messages tend to be undelivered or captured by various spam filters, when sent to a school-based email. With this in mind, we’d encourage you to consider using another email host to receive messages from us. You can confirm the email address we have on file in your admissions status portal or by writing to us.
We look forward to sharing more information about our application process as the summer unfolds. For instance, we’ll have a future blog post with information about live virtual and recorded video interviews. Until then, we hope you have a chance to relax, unplug, and connect with those closest to you. Here’s to a fantastic summer!
