In case you missed it – or even if you were there! – here is a recording of the Waitlist Webinar.

While there is much to learn from the entire conversation (we hope you’ll watch it!), here are a few takeaways:

  1. The term waitlist is a misnomer: it’s actually not a list at all! Applicants are not ranked, ordered, or arranged by any factor(s); all students will be considered for admission as seats in the incoming class become available. The number of students admitted from the waitlist varies from year to year, and it’s too early at this point to say how many students we’ll need this year.
  2. At Wake Forest, students must join the Active Waitlist to be considered any further for admission. Please be aware that your admissions decision is not the same as your being on our Active Waitlist. To confirm your position on the Active Waitlist, simply log in to your Admissions status portal and take note of the Forms section.

If you have not submitted the Decision Reply Form, you will see this in your portal. (Note the text in red.)

If you have submitted the form, you will see this, instead. (Note the green checkmark.)

  1.  The “Waitlist Reply Date” is not the date we will make calls. It does not suggest anything to us about your interest in attending Wake Forest either. Your selected Waitlist Reply Date should reflect the latest date that you would be willing to consider an offer of admission from Wake Forest.
  2. Be sure to keep your contact information up to date! If you are offered a seat in the class, we will call you. If we are unable to reach you, we’ll follow up with a voicemail and an email. (And don’t worry – you won’t lose the opportunity to be admitted if we don’t reach you!)
  3. Your admissions representative will be your best resource through the waitlist process. If you are not sure who that is, be sure to visit our staff page for more information. (Please write to the person who reviews applications from the state where your high school is located, not where you live. This includes international applicants who attend schools in the United States.) While we are happy to hear about your successes in your community and any developments since submitting your application, the Admissions Committee is particularly interested in receiving updates about your academic work.

Warmest regards,
Wake Forest University Office of Undergraduate Admissions
