About Interviews

We write to share some insight – and additional advice – about the opportunity to complete an interview. If you have not already, we invite you to review our website and our blog for more information about virtual and video interviews, as well as the following links about what you can expect and how you might prepare. 

If you are interested in completing a virtual interview, please request one soon! The earlier, the better! The sooner you apply, the more likely you are to schedule an interview. As the application season grows busier, our calendar becomes more complicated, and we can no longer offer interviews on a first-come, first-served basis; our goal is to offer as many interviews as possible, but it becomes more difficult to accommodate every request that we receive. Whether you choose to complete a virtual interview or submit a video interview (or neither!), please be reminded that you must first submit your application before you receive instructions about an interview. Your application does not need to be complete; you simply need to submit your portion of the Common or Coalition, Powered by SCOIR, Application to be eligible to complete a virtual or video interview.

Last year was only the second year that we offered a video-interview option to our applicants. It was a successful choice and one that we encourage! It can be a convenient way for you to supplement your application. Virtual interviews do not hold more weight in the application process than video interviews. Participating in a virtual interview, submitting a video, or simply letting your application speak for itself – any of these options is perfectly fine. We have enrolled, and will continue to enroll, applicants from all three platforms.
