Admissions Answers in Response to Prospective Students’ COVID-19-Related Questions

Wake Forest University knows that your life has changed during this pandemic. We want to work together to give you an admissions experience that meets your needs.

You may have noticed that many colleges and universities are suddenly test-optional. Wake Forest is too, but we made that move permanently more than a decade ago. We knew back then that we wanted your application to help us get to know you as a person. At our university, you are never penalized for choosing not to submit admissions test scores. During this pandemic, when there’s limited access to standardized testing, you may not even have test scores to *consider* sharing! It’s not a problem. Instead, use your application to tell us the story of you. The restrictions of the last year may make that more of a challenge. You haven’t been able to participate in all of the extracurricular activities that bring you so much joy. Instead, explain how you are spending your valuable time. You’re still learning, even if it’s remotely. How are you doing in those classes?

Some high schools are grading differently, even opting for a pass/fail assessment. Take a deep breath: we know that your transcript might look different; Wake Forest is prepared for that too. We’re working with your high-school counselors to understand new methods of assessment, so you don’t need to worry. Just do your best in your classes, and let us see that. Letters of recommendation may be harder to come by because you don’t have as much face-to-face time  with teachers and coaches. Put in your requests early, and also consider asking faith or community members who know you and your talents well.
