Meet Megan
Opportunity knocks—often!
I was born and bred to be a Demon Deacon, and the day my acceptance letter came was one of the best days of my 19 years. I love Wake Forest for its small size and big resources. Now that I’m here, I cannot appreciate enough all the available resources both in and out of the classroom. I heard a lot about student/professor relationships during tours at almost every college, but at Wake Forest, they’re a reality. Wake Forest offers every opportunity for a student to succeed, however that success requires effort. Leadership roles and research opportunities are available, but they have to be sought. I imagine this is what the real world will be like, and I feel I’ll be very prepared for life after college because I’ll know how to seek out and take advantage of resources and opportunities.
Divisional requirements are your friend
At Wake Forest, students declare a major in their sophomore year. I’ve known for some time that I planned to major in political science; however, with the help of my professors, I’ve also discovered new options for either a double-major or minors in philosophy and economics. As part of the liberal arts curriculum, students take courses in a variety of subjects. If it hadn’t been for the divisional requirements, I would never have dreamed I’d be interested in either philosophy or economics. I’m excited to mix these majors and minors together to bring new perspectives to my interest in politics. The more I bring to my political science studies, the more likely I’ll be able to fulfill my goal of attending law school. Someday I hope to work for a think-tank in Washington and research and write reports on new political and economic trends. My classes are definitely setting me up for success.
Campus Grounds Coffeehouse
Introduction to Moral and Political Philosophy. I fell in love with the subject matter. I enjoyed the in-depth look at the inner workings of conservative and liberal perspectives and writing papers that developed and fine-tuned my own political ideology.
