International applicants

Wake Forest believes that the most enriching education is one in which students bring differing perspectives, experiences, opinions and ideas to discussions in the classroom and to their relationships outside the classroom. The University has a global outlook and is committed to enrolling students from around the world.

The needs of our international students are served with expertise and passion by the faculty and staff of our Center for International Studies. From the moment you apply to the time you first step foot on campus, we are committed to making your Wake Forest experience extraordinary.

Application

International students apply to Wake Forest using the same application as all other students. International applicants may apply Early Decision or Regular Decision. Both applications are due January 1. Early Decision is a binding agreement to enroll if you are admitted. Please be sure to review the Application Checklist to ensure your application is complete before submission.

The following additional information applies to international student applicants ONLY:

  • International student applicants are not required to submit an application fee.

  • Certified transcripts are required from each secondary school, college or university attended. A record of at least four years of schooling is needed in order to evaluate the application. Detailed information concerning courses taken and grades received must be listed on these records. If necessary, transcripts should be translated into English with the originals sealed and attached.

  • All international students whose first language is not English are required to submit an official TOEFL score report directly from Educational Testing Services (ETS). Please note that Wake Forest does not accept the IELTS as a test of English proficiency.

If submitting scores, score reports must be sent directly from the testing centers. To request scores be sent, contact:

Scholarships

International students are eligible for most Wake Forest Merit-Based Scholarship Programs. A separate application is not required (except for the Presidential Scholarship. International applicants who wish to be considered for merit-based scholarships must submit all of the application materials by January 1. Both the admission and scholarship processes are highly competitive and many qualified applicants will not be offered financial awards. Regrettably, there is no need-based financial aid available for international students.

Study Visa

Admitted international applicants who pay the admission deposit will be issued an I-20 form. Upon receipt of the I-20, the student may apply for an F-1 visa for study at Wake Forest University. The Center for International Studies will assist you throughout the matriculation process.

International Transfer Applicants

International students who wish to transfer from another institution may apply to Wake Forest. In addition to the items outlined above, transfer applicants must submit the Dean's Statement for Transfer Students [PDF]. Unfortunately, Wake Forest cannot offer any financial or scholarship assistance to international transfer applicants. Visit the transfer admissions Web site for more information.
